Viswa Bharati Vidyodaya Trust & Adivasi Munnetra Sangam (VBVT)

Vidyodaya School, located near Gudalur in the Nilgiris, TN, teaches mostly tribal children.

The Teacher Induction Program has emerged as a logical next step in the process of the educational initiative of the VBVT. Using the experience we have had through the past 25 years of training and enabling Adivasi teachers in our own school, we have drawn up an eight-year programme to train and induct and 100 adivasi teachers in to the local schooling system here. These 100 young adivasis, will act as support system for the children when they join school and further act as role models for the children to look up to and be encouraged to study and stay in school.

Structure of the program:

• A 3 year teacher induction program.
• First 18 months: An intensive Experiencial training in the Vidyodaya Adivasi school.
• Second 18 months: The Fellows get embedded into local schools or within other teaching roles in VBVT.
• After 18 months: Those who are eligible will enroll for B.Ed.
• At the end of the program: we hope the fellows will be B.Ed qualified and, in a position, to clear TET.

Asha will support operation of a school bus and construction of classroom.
